About Wayne Winsley

Wayne Winsley was born in Cleveland, Ohio and raised by his great grandmother. His early childhood was spent in the Garden Valley Housing Projects and some of the poorest neighborhoods in the city.

At age thirteen he was placed in an orphanage and later in Boys Town. Despite facing poverty and adversity, Wayne developed the belief that “I’m not average.” He knew that he was destined to do something great. His earliest dream was to one day walk into a library and see a book on the shelves that he had written. He held fast to that dream and never let it go.

At age sixteen Wayne moved to Connecticut where he lived with his mother for two years before enlisting the United States Navy. During his enlistment Wayne was trained as a jet engine mechanic, military police officer and special weapons handler..

After leaving the Navy, Wayne enjoyed a highly successful career as a private investigator, but it wasn’t until he began following his true calling and using his gifts as speaker and communicator that he truly began to flourish.

While working on an undercover case, Wayne got the urge to be a radio Dee-Jay. He shared this dream with a co-worker and was told, “Don’t be ridiculous. You can’t do that.” Instead of being discouraged, Wayne decided to be brave enough to fail, and he went for it.

Broadcaster:
In 1989 Wayne literally walked into a radio station with just a demo tape and a dream. He walked out with a job as a part-time Dee-Jay and the rest was history. Over the next two decades Wayne did it all. He went from playing rock & roll on the weekends to holding a full-time shift, writing and producing commercials. One of the absolute highlights of his broadcasting career came when he actually shared the stage with The King of the Blues B.B. King.

Political Commentator:
Wayne branched out from the music side of radio into realm of political talk by hosting his own show “The Wayne Winsley Program.” With a combination of compelling commentary and outrageously funny satire, the program quickly became one of the highest rated local talk shows in Connecticut and went on for ten years. Over the next decade Wayne spent countless hours discussing and debating the issues of the day with local and national newsmakers and celebrities, from governors & senators to actors & authors including Colonel David H. Hackworth and bestselling author David Baldacci.

News Anchor:
Wayne moved from the talk studio to the newsroom and once again excelled. In two years he went from afternoon news anchor and reporter to the flagship position, host of the morning news show. Along the way Wayne had the privilege to meet and interview many notable figures including Earvin “Magic” Johnson and the late Senator Ted Kennedy.

Writer:
In 2005 Wayne published his first novel, The Leprechaun Deception, a crime thriller. Since then he has written two sequels “Duplicity” and “Delusion”. Coming soon, are a fourth installment in the series as well as a non-fiction book, Brave Enough to Fail, Destined to Succeed.
